A short biography of Britney Spears – how a star was made
Britney Spears is a famous American pop singer and dancer. Her born name is Britney Jane Spears and she is also well-known for her other artistic and performing talents – song writing and acting. She was born in McComb, Mississippi. Her dad worked as a construction worker and her mother as a school teacher while her brother is involved with the “Britney Spears Empire.”
Britney was destined to be in the spotlight since the beginning – as a kid she was a trained a gymnast. She also took singing lessons and sang in her church’s choir. Her carrier started when she went to an audition for the Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney Channel. She got rejected only because she was too young and the Disney Channel producers told her to try in New York.
Her first studio album titled “…Baby One More Time” got out in 1998 and it sold more than 1.5 million copies just during the week (9 million total) making it a real hit. The next album, titled “Oops! I did it again” was also a huge hit and it sold in millions as well.
Her following singles and albums were dominating on the American and international charts and it seemed like she is unstoppable. With each new album her influence in the song making seemed to increase – for the next album “In The Zone” worked on most of the thirteen songs which the album contained and did some co-production as well.
In 2004 Britney married a friend from school one spontaneous in Las Vegas. The marriage was annulled after just two days. In the same year she married the controversial Kevin Federline with whom she has two children. A series of unfortunate events followed: in 2006 divorced Federline and soon after the death of her aunt with whom she has been very close. She reportedly checked into rehab, only to leave after less than 24 hours. Tomorrow she shaved hair off her head which caused an uproar in the media.
Since then Britney’s career and personal life have been up and down. Her following album “Blackout” was declared the Album of the Year in the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 and but her performance of “Gimme More” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards was deemed bad by a lot of critics.
On January 2008 Spears lost custody over her children and was committed to the psychiatric ward of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. In February she was released and in December released “Circus”. The album debuted at number one in many countries including the United States put her in the Guinness Book of World Records in the category of younger female singer with five albums placed first on the top list.
In March 2011 Britney released her seventh album “Femme Fatale”. The album’s first single “Hold It Against Me” debuted at first place on the Billboard Hot 100 top list. In December Spears confirmed her engagement to her long-time boyfriend Jason Trawick, her former manager, and is planning to take time off in 2012.
